Are you a parent who loves to travel but anxious about navigating the airport/new destination with your little in tow? That was me about a year ago before deciding to take the plunge and get back into traveling! I have since taken my daughter to 4 countries and 3 states - with alot of trial and error, traveling with her seems normal (and yes fun!) now.
Traveling with a baby may seem daunting, but with a dash of preparation and some insider tips, you’ll be flying with your baby like a pro in no time- In this guide, we’ll explore the ins and outs of traveling with a baby, along with some savvy airline hacks to make your journey smooth. 1. Pack Smart, Pack Light:
When it comes to traveling with a baby, less is more. Opt for lightweight, compact essentials such as a travel-sized stroller. This one from Mamazing is my go to pick because it folds super compact and comes with a travel bag.
A portable crib - essential if your air bnb or hotel does not offer one. My top choice is this one from Lamberia because it comes with a pack and is very comfy!
And a travel backpack. I went without one for our first few trips, and all my baby gear was always all over the place! After trying a few, this is the one I landed on: Hanples Travel Backpack
These items will not only lighten your load but also make navigating airports a breeze.
2. Timing is Everything:
Choosing the right time to fly can make a world of difference when traveling with a baby. Aim for flights during nap times or bedtime to increase the chances of a sleeping baby on the flight. Use booking platforms like Expedia or CheapOair to find flexible scheduling options and discounts for off-peak flights.
3. Strategic Seating:
Selecting the right seats can significantly impact your in-flight experience. Book your tickets through SeatGuru to choose bulkhead seats or seats near the front of the plane for extra legroom and easier access to the lavatories. Slightly pricier airlines like Emirates or Delta Airlines may also provide seat selection options during the booking process.
4. Prepare for Takeoff and Landing:
Alleviate ear pressure during takeoff and landing with either a sippy cup, pacifier, bottle or breastfeeding if you are and feel comfortable doing so in public!
I love this sippy by Nuk because its deign and slight resemblance to a breast, as my daughter was mostly breastfed, so it was an easy transition!
If you are breastfeeding and want something to cover with, my favorite is this Muslin Cover from Blissful Diary because it doubles as a blanket and is very breathable!
5. Master the Art of Distraction:
Keep your little one entertained throughout the journey with toys, books, and snacks with toys from Melissa & Doug, and Happy Baby Organics. Download low stimulation toddler-friendly shows to add an extra dose of distraction during long flights.
6. Embrace the Power of Babywearing:
Opt for a lightweight, breathable baby carrier from Graco, & Baby K’tan, to keep your hands free while traveling. These carriers provide comfort and support for both you and your little one, making it easier to navigate busy airports and terminals. I still use my Graco carrier with my 17 month old who is 25 pounds! The K'tan was also my favorite when she was a bit smaller. I love the breathable fabric that also doubles as a stroller cover due to its layering!

Conclusion:
Traveling with a baby doesn’t have to be a stressful experience. Even if the flight is slightly stressful, you will be so thrilled once you get to your destination! You got this 🎉🫶🏻
